Bakersfield College (BC), founded in 1913,  is one of the oldest continually operating two year community college in California, and has repetition of over 95 years of excellence. A quality undergraduate education is offered to students on a  friendly campus with small class sizes, advanced technology, and a variety of diverse experiences. It is located in the Central California, 100 miles north of Los Angeles.

Accreditation: Bakersfield College is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Students  are able to complete the first two years of an undergraduate university work at BC  and then transfer to a university to earn a bachelor's degree. BC's general education curriculum parallels that of the state universities and colleges, allowing easy transfer anywhere in the California system of public or private higher education. The college also offers more than 100 academic majors and vocational training programs.

Bakersfield College offers the following opportunities for students:

  • Associate of Arts (AA)  and Associates of Science (AS) degrees-- To obtain AA or AS degree, Students need to complete 60 degree applicable units of coursework. This include completion of General Education and no fewer than 18 units in the student's major.
  • Transfer opportunities--Bakersfield College students are prepared to transfer to all campuses in California, UC's and CSU's  once they have completed the required coursework. Bakersfield College has a very successful transfer agreements with many universities in California.
  • Certificate of Achievement--F-1 visa students must earn a degree and certificate. Certificate alone are not available to F-1 students.
