The Tech Prep Program, based at Bakersfield College, is an integral part of School to Career efforts in Kern and Tulare counties. It is a consortium of four community colleges, 32 comprehensive high schools, four regional occupation centers, 20 continuation/independent study high schools and four adult schools.

The goal of the Tech Prep Program is to engage students who have been neglected by our nation's system of schooling and encourage them to further their education and work experience. Tech Prep provides a link between education, family, work and civic life. It is recognized as an approach that can make education fulfilling for students and teachers alike, and motivate students to pursue their education and career goals.
