Bakersfield College

The Bakersfield College CalWORKs office serves students who participate in Kern County's welfare to work CalWORKs program. Services available for qualified students include child care referrals, work-study or work experience, on the job training, advocacy, academic counseling, and referrals to other campus services.

The Community Education program is designed to provide opportunties for personal and professional development, skill improvement and upgrading, cultural enrichment, and recreational enjoyment for all ages on a not-for-credit basis.

Corporate and Community Services at Bakersfield College was created in 1991 to serve the special needs of business and industry. Since that time, the center has been dedicated to the concept and practice of providing performance-based services to our customers.

The Small Business Development Center at Bakersfield College works to promote the expansion and development of small business in our area. In order to help entrepreneurs get a solid start, the SBDC offers a one-stop business counseling, training and economic development resource.

The Tech Prep Program, based at Bakersfield College, is an integral part of School to Career efforts in Kern and Tulare counties. It is a consortium of four community colleges, 32 comprehensive high schools, four regional occupation centers, 20 continuation/independent study high schools and four adult schools.

The Workplace Skills Training web site provides individuals and corporations with the tools they need to work smarter and meet organizational objectives through workplace assessments, basic skills instruction, ESL, training and development, and organizational consulting.
